We mean the systematical formulation of a set of ideas, which can be seen as a common feature in all schools of thought.
Though Contemporary Muslim Thought has still the general characteristics of the “initial stage” and could not get to the “systematization” phase, it has made some progress almost for a century, and signals that it is about to pass through it. This process will be completed when Muslims come to be able use “the original language” professionally.
The fact is that the evolution of human thought has two characteristics. Firstly, it is a work of a “process”, and secondly, it’s a result of a joint working. Like any other human activities, the thought evolves in the course of time, reach the pick point, and then vanish away. What we mean by “systematization of the thought” is that a set of ideas held by an ideological group makes a progress in the course of time and eventually evolves into a coherent body of arguments. When it reaches this level, it forms its own “language” and manifests itself as an “internally consistent” body, i.e. “the school of thought.” Here, basic concepts are clearly defined, and firmly interrelated with secondary - and other lower-level - ones, and thus the task of conceptual coherence is done succesfully. By reaching such a level of competency, the ideological group which is organized around a set of shared arguments answers the prime condition of becoming an organization that has a potential to form a “social” and “political” movement. Besides that, the process of evolving into a competent ideology is directly related to what is called a “general trend” in a society. When the potentials of a society is stirred up and its material and ideological energy is focused in a specific direction, the individual contributions made by its members to the very process of the community’s development serves the purpose, and after a while, the thought transforms into to a set of systematized ideas. In other words, the systematization of thought is a result of the “general trend” of a society.
